Hard Work or Luck ??

“Bob: Hey, I got a job”

“Ron: I didn’t even get a call, my luck is really bad”

“Me: Ron, It’s all about hard work and not luck.”

I always used to believe that success or failure in any work depends solely on how much work you have put in to achieve it. “If you want something you have to put in more than 100% to achieve it, and if you don’t achieve it then stop blaming luck because you did not give your 100% and that is why you failed.” This was what I used to tell to my friends and they used to tell me that “It does not matter how hard you try, but if luck is not favoring you, then you will not achieve it”.

I never believed them and in fact I did not want to believe them, because not believing them always made me give more than 100% in every work that I did till date. Also I tasted success in all the tasks that I have ever done, so my belief was stronger now.

But some days ago I found out that one of my colleagues got what I am trying to get for the past one year and I could not even move one single step forward in achieving it. I was shocked and surprised because I was somehow better than him in most of the qualities needed to get that Job.

Now this incident has put me in double minds and I am now confused if I have not given my 100% in trying to find a job or my luck is bad?

I think its time to believe my friends that there is something like LUCK, and if it favors you only then your 100% counts. Otherwise you just have to keep on trying and PERSUADE luck to favor you.

Now the statements have become:

“Bob: Hey, I got a job”

“Ron: I didn’t even get a call, my luck is really bad”

“Me: Ron, I am sure you must have tried very hard but keep on trying and your luck will favor you very soon.”
